I am currently recruiting for a company based in Aldridge who are looking for a Materials Controller. This is a new role within the business so there will be some scope for the person to shape this role themselves. It’s a standalone role but there will be heavy interaction with the external sales team, the customer services team (also based in Aldridge) as well as local management.

Review materials forecastPlan stock levelsLiaise with and support Sales & Service management on all stock issuesRaise purchase ordersBuild platform for success with our key Inter-co SuppliersLiaise with SuppliersManage optimum stock levels within target KPI’s, including reduction of working capitalInventory Grading reviewManage DR processMaintain Stock Master file on MS NAVMaintain and review warehouse processesOther duties as directed by line manager
Contractual hours are 36.25 per week, within core business hours. People tend to typically start between 7.30am and 9am and finish anytime from 4.30pm onwards with an hour for lunch;
The person should be proficient with excel as this will be their primary system – they should be able to do things like pivot tables, V-lookups etc;
They must be process driven and have an analytical mind and to take a proactive approach to stock issues at the moment the average monthly stock holding is £1 million, so are looking for someone to come in to review and make changes to how they work to their optimum – therefore previous experience of improved efficiencies in this type of role is a must;
They also need to confident and good communicators- they need to be able to build relationships with stakeholders;
A manufacturing / logistics background would be beneficial but not necessarily a must
Also someone with a background in managing (small) teams would be beneficial as there is scope for this role to expand and incorporate management of the small Customer Services team (currently 5 staff)
