A Warwickshire based high tech scientific instrumentation company is looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer / Project Engineer to join their multi-disciplined team. The company is a world leader in solid state laser systems for industrial applications and academic research in areas such as imaging, sensing, lighting and manufacturing. Leading a small team, the Senior Mechanical Design Engineer / Project Engineer will undertake detailed design of complex mechanical systems from concept to realisation, using a wide range of materials, finishes, manufacturing processes and ISO standards.

Mechanical Project Engineer responsibilities:

Mechanical design, development and validation of new mechanical systems and components including associated tooling, assembly & test methods.

Project Management, planning and overseeing workflow of internal and external resources and suppliers to ensure delivery of the project on time and budget.

Complete detailed 3D CAD models and drawings to aid manufacture using Autodesk Inventor.

Ensure compliance with technical specifications using design validation activities such as first principle calculations and thermal Finite Element Analysis.

Oversee and execute testing and compile reports on activities following scrutiny of test data.

Ensure all relevant safety and legal requirements are observed for all work completed.

Manage a small team of mechanical engineers and occasionally supervise draughtsmen, apprentices and production workers.

Managing the Design Control Register (DCR) and ensure the CAD database is maintained;

Senior Mechanical Project Engineer Requirements:

Degree (BSc, BEng, MEng) or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or closely related subject

Around 8-10 years' experience in a mechanical design role for high precision/high technology products, assemblies and components.

Project Management and Man-Management / Team Leadership experience.
