Job description
You will supporting the Environment Agency in the West Midlands area to protect and assess the water resource issues within the catchment. This will involve working with a variety of internal teams and external partners to deliver environmental outcomes.

You will be reviewing water resources licences, updating CAMS ledgers, and supporting the West Midlands area in delivering the Integrated Area Environment Plan. You will be supporting and mentoring other team members.

The successful candidate will work closely with water companies to make sure they deliver sustainable abstraction through various AMP schemes within the catchment and will become an IEP champion, internally promoting the benefits of collaborating to produce high quality environmental outcomes.

The team
The team manage data and policy using information from across the organisation. They assess and report on the state of the environment. They provide integrated planning for all disciplines across their Area.

Experience/skills required
  • Work or experience at an appropriate level within water resources, related to industrial, rural and environmental issues, will be viewed favourably.
  • We are looking for highly effective communications skills with a wide range of customers.
  • A background in Environmental Science, Geography or another appropriate numerate discipline is considered advantageous.
  • A working knowledge of water resources and abstraction licensing would be preferred.
  • The post requires a person with strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively, manage a varied workload and meet appropriate deadlines.
  • You will have an analytical and innovative mind and be able to make decisions made on clear, well-reasoned arguments.
  • You will produce work to a consistently high standard, with a high level of written and oral communication skills, being able to influence both professional and non-professional audiences.
