Victoria Walker is recruiting for a Mechanical Test Engineer to join a materials testing company based in Shropshire, on a full time, permanent basis.

As a Mechanical Test Engineer, the main purpose of your role will be to provide technical expertise and to design and build test rigs and testing equipment. You will be responsible for setting up and effectively managing client tests as well as liaising with clients on testing needs and progress. Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, you will work in the product testing department. Further responsibilities of this Mechanical Test Engineer will be to:
-Assist with project planning and implementation.
-Generate accurate technical reports.
-Assist in the development of new test methods.
-Promptly identify instrument problems.
-Undertake equipment maintenance, and consumable stock control, where applicable.
-Assisting with ensuring that the site UKAS quality accreditation is maintained through full procedural compliance.
-Liaises with Quality Unit, where applicable, to ensure efficient implementation of internal audits.

As a Mechanical Test Engineer, you will have the following qualifications, skills and experience:
-HNC, HND, BTEC or equivalent in a related technical subject - essential minimum. Degree in engineering, physics, material science or appropriate engineering discipline preferred.
-Experience of design and/ or installation of hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical or electrical systems - essential, preferably within industry.
-Demonstrated competence in mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic problem solving - essential, preferably within industry.
-Demonstrated competence in using production, testing or maintenance machinery - essential, preferably within industry.
-Demonstrated knowledge of safe working practices related to operating machinery - essential, preferably within industry.
-Computer Literate - competence in Microsoft Excel, Word, email/web essential, and the ability to learn in-house systems.
-Good interpersonal and communication skills - proven ability in translating lab data in to meaningful commentary for clients.
-Ideally experience of physical testing of materials and products.
-Any knowledge of hose design, performance or manufacture or of pressure systems design would be advantageous.
-Project Management skills beneficial.
