Tudor Employment are recruiting for a Javascript Developer for our prestigious client based in Cannock.

Working Monday to Friday - hours to be confirmed

Salary: up to £40,000 per annum

Job Summary:

To be successful in this role, the candidate needs to be analytical, showing good attention to detail, and be experienced in developing and delivering high quality code that is thoroughly tested. Interested candidates should their GitHub username and/or link to their portfolio along with their CV.

Responsible to: Business Systems Manager

Performance Standards

The Web Developer will be operating across the IT and other business departments, and is expected to work in a professional manner and to a high quality level.

He/she will be responsible for the provisions of development estimates, development and testing of web based applications. Current methodologies will be adhered to.

Occasional out of hours working may be required as determined by project needs.

Essential Skills

* Degree level qualification or equivalent in an IT relevant subject
* Demonstrable maintenance of skill sets by continuous development and knowledge acquisition
* Strong web development skills and a passion to deliver reliable, secure and high performance web applications that deliver business benefit. Expected skills:

* Server-side (NodeJS) and client-side Javascript
* HTML5 and HTML templating languages (Pug, Handlebars etc)
* CSS3 and CSS pre-processors (SCSS/LESS)
* Git version control
* Unit and Integration testing (TDD. Mocha, Chai etc)
* Understanding of MVC and OO design patterns
* Understanding of clean code principles and adherence to code style guides (StandardJS, ESLint etc)
* Defensive Programming (Prevention of cross-script attack, sql injection, path manipulation)
* Good code documentation and commit message writing
* Comfortable on a unix command line

Advantageous skills

* Knowledge and experience of IT systems in a logistics business environment

* Familiarity with ES6/ES7 features
* Working in a continuous integration/deployment environment
* Writing build and deployment automation scripts (Bash, Jenkins etc)
* Front end JS frameworks (Vue, Angular, React, JQuery etc)
* Server-side MVC frameworks (AdonisJS, Laravel, CodeIgniter)
* Building and consuming RESTful web services

* SQL database design and query optimisation (MSSQL, MySQL) Experience of launching web applications on mobile devices through wrappers (IOS/Android) and/or progressive web application development

* Scrum/kanban methodology
* JavaScript build process – Webpack, Grunt, Gulp etc.
* Message queuing (RabbitMQ, Kue etc)
* Performance and scalability optimisation (Client-side and server-side)
* User tracking and reporting (Google Analytics, Piwik etc)
* E2E and functional testing (WebDriver, protractor etc)

Nice to have

* Contributions to open source software (Github, NPM)
* Experience of designing and implementing micro service architectures
* Experience of other server side web languages (PHP, .Net, Python, Perl, Ruby etc)
* Linux web server management (Ubuntu, Nginx, PM2 etc)
* Cloud server management (AWS)
* Docker Containerisation
* NoSQL databases (Redis, MongoDB)

Other Information

The Depots and Hub staff work during the business day; major user activity also takes place at the Hub overnight and good IT cover is essential 24/6. The IT Department is expected to deal with incidents not managed by our external providers.
