Events Fundraising Assistant

Our client is a registered charity. Our client exists to work with people with spinal cord injuries to create opportunity, choice and independence. Our client aims to enable disabled people to achieve their full potential.

Amongst the services provided are: Our client Grants that awards grants for specialised equipment, Independent Living advice provided by trained advisors, provision of Assistive Technology facilities at Spinal Injury Centres and specially adapted housing throughout the country which serves as accommodation for patients newly discharged from hospital, while permanent, accessible accommodation is being arranged.

Hours: 35 hours a week, plus occasional evening / weekend work
Salary: £20,000 - £22,000

About the role:

Provide event and fundraising support for our clients Channel Swim and other events. Engage participants through social media, phone and email. Create regular blog content. Analysis and research. Co-operate and work with other members of fundraising team.

Responsibilities:

- Working closely with the Events Manager to manage the fundraiser support and communications for the Channel Swim: Handle supporter communications, including email correspondence and phone calls
- Working with their digital agency, maintain the Channel Swim website, making sure it is kept up-to-date with event and participant information.
- Create and post regular content on our clients Channel Swim social media accounts, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
- Write engaging content for blogs, sourcing relevant topics and case studies.
- Develop short videos and original imagery for use in blogs and social media.
- Ensure Raiser’s Edge database is up to date with all participant information and related actions, and run reports as requested by the Events Manager.
- Process sponsorship income and acknowledge supporters accordingly.
- Analyse event participant information to assist with marketing and communication plans.
- Working closely with the Events Manager to manage the recruitment, fundraiser support and administration for other events in our client’s portfolio: Working with the Events Manager, recruit participants to take on external challenge events for our client.
- Manage the supporter journey for event participants, including ensuring minimum fundraising targets are met and exceeded.
- Ensure Raiser’s Edge database is up to date with all participant information and related actions, and run reports as requested by the Events Manager.
- Process sponsorship income and acknowledge supporters accordingly
- Support other members of the team in their fundraising activities where appropriate and as agreed with the Events Manager

Essential Skills / Experiences:

- Experience of social media marketing or using social media creatively
- Customer / supporter facing experience
- A passion for creative writing
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience of managing large workloads and several projects at once
- Well versed in Microsoft Office and general computer literacy

Desirable Skills / Experiences:

- Experience of working with databases, especially Raiser’s Edge (full training will be given)
- Experience of website management, preferably Word Press or similar
- Experience of photography and film making
- Experience of working within an office-based environment
- An interest in swimming
