Embedded C Software Engineer

We have a unique opportunity for an Embedded C Software Engineer to join a global manufacturer of Heating and Ventilation Systems (HVAC).

As a Embedded C Software Engineer you will be responsible for maintaining and supporting existing products. You will also be developing software and controls for new products using Embedded C.

Products are covering heating, cooling, humidification and system critical process and IT cooling.

If you do not have HVAC experience, you may be coming from a Mechanical Engineering or Hydraulics background.

You will only be expected on site 1 or 2 days a week and have potentially two sites to choose from.

As a Embedded Software Engineer you will be responsible for:

* Taking a leading role in specification, project management, development of new hardware and associated testing evaluation and certification.
* Investigating new technologies and manufacturing processes to incorporate into new and existing designs.
* Liaising with external manufacturers and suppliers to establish specification and cost of specialised equipment.
* Attending project and design review meetings to ensure that designs are progressed in accordance with concept to launch process.
* Working with Senior Engineers on new concepts, feasibility and cost justifications.
* Verifying and validating solutions to ensure that they meet the brief requirements.
* Assisting the engineering team with the development and implementation of new products, improvement projects and cost reduction.
* Providing technical support on existing product ranges. Supporting order processing, customer service and customers.
* Interpreting and advising clients on their HVAC design and equipment requirements.
* Providing product training to customers and distributors.

Experience Required:

* Strong ‘C’ programming language skills.
* Appreciation of the specific challenges of resource-limited real time systems.
* Understanding of compilers and linkers.
* Understanding of microcontroller hardware.
* Ability to review PCB schematics and product wiring diagrams.
* Familiarity with debug tools, Altera Nios II soft processor an asset, Echelon’s LonWorks technology and their Nodebuilder Development Tools an asset, TCP/IP protocol suite and Building Automation networks and protocols – MODBUS, LonWorks, BACnet.
* Strong problem solving abilities, technical and analytical skills.

Salary £40,000-£70,000 DOE
