Group Financial Accountant Birmingham City Centre £45,000 to £50,000

Gleeson Recruitment Group are supporting a PE backed property management company who are recruiting for a Group Financial Accountant to join with a specific responsibility for the statutory accounts process

This role will report into a practice trained Financial Controller who is keen to pass on a wealth of knowledge to ensure that the person moving into this role will have the necessary support to ensure they are successful. As this is a new finance team the organisation has invested and pledged to make developing and supporting the team an absolute priority. Progression is a key sell for this role and they are only looking for people with the desire to move up the career ladder. Being able to challenge and Influence will be essential for this role as stakeholders have strong opinions and expect that any information provided is broken down into easily digested information. The role will have the usual expectations from a Group Financial Accountant. Flexibility is also there for the right person and a typical working day is between 9am to 5pm with an hour for lunch, however, late evenings and early starts may be required at month and year end. .

Some of the day to day responsibilities of the Group Financial Accountant will include:

  • Assist in ensuring compliance of Group accounting processes with the relevant accounting standards e.g. IFRS, UK GAAP, LUXGAAP and US GAAP
  • Assist in implementing Sarbanes Oxley across the Group, aiming to minimise any deficiencies or weaknesses in the first year of compliance
  • Assist in controlling the integrity of all balance sheets
  • Involvement in monthly/quarterly cashflow and balance sheet reporting
  • Assist in the production of all Group Financial reporting, including the production of the Group Consolidation
  • Management of Fixed Asset register, ensuring appropriate policies are adhered to
  • Assisting in developing financial models for cash management and reporting
  • Support the preparation of debt and bond reporting - ensure on-going compliance of covenants
  • Coordination of development funding drawdown requests
  • Implement improved financial controls, ensuring the highest standards of corporate governance are achieved
  • Support the business in Finance matters relating to M&A activity
  • Involvement in ad-hoc finance projects as required

Is the Group Financial Accountant in Birmingham role right for me?

  • You are ideally a graduate; holding a recognised accounting qualification, preferably ACA or equivalent
  • You are looking for your first or second role post-qualifying in a commercial organisation
  • Experience of Sarbanes Oxley would be advantageous
  • Knowledge of PE backed structures, consolidations and acquisition accounting would be advantageous
  • Strong technical background
