Accountant - Rapidly Growing European Business

Burntwood, Staffordshire

GBP30-40,000 + Bonus + Pension + BUPA

The Business

Working in partnership with Seymour John, my client is a rapidly expanding technology services provider growing their business across the UK, Ireland and six other European countries, including openings in France and Belgium planned for this year. Turnover is passing the GBP15m mark and the medium term strategic plan involves more of the same to build a strong international business.

The Opportunity

This could be an ideal first move into industry for a newly qualified ACA or ACCA accountant currently in practice as the thrust of your role in 2018 would be as a Financial Accountant responsible for:

  • Preparing quarterly VAT returns for the UK and Ireland, and coordinating the VAT returns for the six other European countries via local accountancy firms, ensuing tax jurisdiction compliance.
  • Managing the audit processes across the European entities to including scheduling, information provision and resolving queries to achieve successful clean audits.
  • Until Q4 2018, lead on cash collections across all jurisdictions, working with in-country sales reps to assist with language challenges.
  • Beyond Q4 when a specialist debt collection role is within the growth budget, take over responsibility for the month end reporting for the European business from the parent company HQ.
  • Support the business in a variety of other tasks in line with running and complaint and successfully growing business.
  • Adapt and grow with the company, evolving your responsibilities in line with the expansion, perhaps into a Finance Manager position.
  • Reporting into the European Head of Finance.
  • Assume responsibility for one member of staff initially, growing to two in Q4 and expanding further as the company develops.

Skills & Experience

  • Whether you have gained experience within industry or are still in practice, it's essential that you can demonstrate the capability to manage audits and VAT compliance across multiple European territories.
  • Preferably a qualified accountant, ACCA, ACA or CIMA.
  • Driven and excited by the opportunity to join a rapidly expanding business and develop yourself further.
  • Language skills not necessary, but would be considered a real advantage, especially Dutch, German or French.
