Senior Project Manager - HSBC

This is an initial 6 month contract based in Birmingham

The Project Manager will report to the Risk & Finance Head of Data Change & Innovation and support the Chief Data Officer (CDO) to deliver compliance with BCBS 239 across both Risk & Finance. More specifically the role will have direct responsibility for delivery to close a number of Management Action Plans ( MAP's) to close specific audit issues.

BCBS 239 is a mandatory regulatory commitment which requires strengthened governance, improved data quality and appropriate architecture to improve the quality of our Risk Management Meeting committee packs. The role holder will be responsible for compliance across Risk and Finance, both business and IT.

The BCBS 239 MAP Project Manager will be responsible for managing the engagement with the Group Data Services and the Group BCBS 239 programme to understand requirements, identify and agree Risk & Finance activities to fulfil the requirements, close the audit MAP's and track progress to ensure compliance is achieved. This will include representing Risk & Finance at Group led working groups and include identification and management of associated risks, issues and dependencies, escalating as appropriate to ensure senior management visibility.

The role holder will be required to have visibility across the Data Management Utility and Risk & Finance IT & Architecture and have a detailed understanding of both change activity and BAU deliverables which will help achieve compliance with BCBS 239 requirements and MAP delivery.

Role Dimensions

The Project Manager will interact with staff at various levels (including senior executives) across the Group.

They will be responsible for the successful delivery of BCBS 239 audit MAP's across Risk & Finance.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Exceptional stakeholder management experience
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing people in complex organisations.
  • Extension background of managing large scale change in data related environments.
  • Relevant knowledge of the regulatory data requirements for the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS 239).
  • Exceptional drive, commitment and focus in data management.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills with experience in a complex global environment.
  • Strong communicator with excellent oral and written skills.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment with proven ability to handle multiple outputs at one time.
  • Extensive experience of data management in Risk and Finance.
  • Extensive knowledge of Risk and Finance systems, data structures and data processes.
  • Excellent track record in programme delivery, typically in both execution and coordination roles.
  • Ability to operate in HSBC's key locations.
