The Senior Delivery Manager is accountable for the successful deliveryof a portfolio of projects and activities for a business area, which canbe delivered through agile, waterfall or hybrid methodologies. Theprojects need to be deliver business benefit to time, cost and quality,whilst being managed to an acceptable level of risk. The Senior DeliveryManager may also be required to oversee large and complex projects as aprogramme of work, and needed to provide governance of the projectswhich are delivered through the Product Families. The Senior DeliveryManager is required to provide leadership, coaching and mentoring to thedelivery team to develop a motivated and successful delivery capabilitywith Sainsbury's.What I need to do Accountable for the delivery of business benefit through programmes ofwork to meet the agreed business requirements within time, cost andquality constraints, in accordance with the agreed standards &methods, working with the relevant teams within Delivery &Operations and across the business to achieve the desired result Ensures that a robust business strategy/business case is developed inconjunction with the business and that the right level of businesssupport and signoff is obtained. Ensures all elements of the solutioncomply with the standards and policies issued by Technology Planningthroughout the life of the project Responsible for Project Management and Delivery Leadership: oDesign and implement a programme governance framework which, in turn,deliver the benefits and outcomes needed to meet the visionoDevelop a work breakdown structure (WBS) for the project and achievableplans to deliver the products defined in the WBS and that these arevalidated by all key stakeholdersoAssemble a team capable of delivering the programme and its associatedbenefits, appropriately leveraging internal resources, third-parties,and the business communityoEnsure that the business focuses on developing appropriate acceptancecriteria, appropriately testing against functional and non-functional requirementsoEnsure elements of the Sainsbury Operating Model and Project ManagementFramework are applied as appropriate oChampion and drive further best practice governance and methodsproviding feedback to IT Transformation and IT Delivery on the OperatingModel and Project Management FrameworkoEstablish a culture of risk awareness and proactively manage risks and issuesoEnsure robust financial management of the project in accordance withpolicies Responsible for ensuring the best long term value for money isobtained through the delivery of the programme and finalise thecommercials for sign off as appropriate Develops highly effective relationships with colleagues at all levelsin the organisation to deliver the optimal solution, escalating to theProject Sponsor where necessary (providing evaluated recommendations) toensure the programme is completed to time, cost and quality, whilebalancing the need to deliver the business benefits and to do so in away that minimises long-term cost of ownership. Ensures key stakeholders remain appropriately informed of theprogramme's progress Responsible for managing, developing and appraising the project team,ensuring teams are highly motivated & focused on delivery (includingco-operation/co-ordination across teams on other related projects) whilebalancing colleagues career aspirations Responsible for quality-assuring the programme against the agreedquality assurance standards, leveraging independent assessments andaudit where appropriate Regularly reviews the progress of projects and programmes within theportfolio to ensure effective management to the change of requirements,milestones, risks, etc to improve the efficiency of resources Contributes to post-implementation reviews and contributes back to thewider knowledge base of expertise How I will succeed Business benefits are delivered in line with business case Projects/ Programmes are delivered on time, at agreed cost andquality, and meet operational resilience requirements at an affordablelong-term TCO Business satisfaction scores confirm delivery to expectations Actual costs in line with budgeted costs: Next period's forecastshould be at least 80% accurate Colleague Engagement IndexWhat I need to know Educated to degree level Track record of applying varying project management, tools,technologies & techniques with expertise in best practice projectmanagement methodologies and approaches - including Agile delivery,effort estimating techniques, work breakdown planning, projectmanagement disciplines such as PRINCE2 and the APM Body of Knowledge Understanding of IT architecture, design, development methods,assurance and testing techniques and operational service & support,as well as business change management techniques and best practice Experience and knowledge of the IT investment evaluation process,including cost/benefit analysis and estimating IT cost/resources forboth defined & undefined initiatives Experience of delivering projects through a variety of methodologiesincluding Agile and Waterfall and can articulate the advantages anddisadvantages of these methods in relation to different programmes of work Expert in coaching others to constructively challenge situations andto make decisions based on the weeks ahead Experience in energising and leading the team through enabling them tosee how their work impacts the business results and ensuring they remaininformed on relevant business informationWhat I need to show Track record of successfully managing large or complex IT programmes/projects (15m+) through the full lifecycle (with experience of bothagile and waterfall life-cycles) with an ability to manage multiplestakeholders with varying objectives Ability to challenge/influence business strategy/businesscase/requirements, and prioritise requirements on the basis of business benefit Ability to recognise the importance of the customer through creatingopportunities to talk to customers on a wide scale (highlighting the ITDivision's successes) and supporting/enabling decisions to be made basedon customer feedback, insights and trends Can proactively reflect and challenge when results aren't beingachieved and address areas requiring resolution.
