Main PurposeOverall management of all production and delivery of standard products and associated financial responsibilities, with specific responsibility for company health and safety and securityKey Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the people, premises, processes and procedures for standard products, built predominantly from timber, within a subsidiary of Playchildren Ltd, Eardisland Timber
  • Ensure that the company remains fully compliant with all aspects of ISO9001 and keeps up with all audit requirements
  • Ensure that quality is maintained throughout the production and delivery of all standard items
  • To ensure that all aspects of the company health and safety policy and procedures are fit for purpose and up to date, as well as ensuring that they are adhered to
  • Ensure that customer service is maintained at the highest possible level
  • Monitor any faults from customers, and liaise with the customer to rectify any issues
  • Ensure that drawings and process records are accurate, kept up to date and audited in line with the quality levels required to maintain the high standard that is expected of our brands.
  • Report directly to general manager
Production

  • Ensure that the products produced are consistently built to the highest standards and that there is an on-going and endless review of product quality
  • To have overall responsibility for the delivery, service and installation of all standard products.
  • Oversee and have final responsibility for production and delivery scheduling of all standard products
  • To be responsible for setting production targets and ensure that they are meet.
  • To deal with day to day HR issues in accordance with company policy including labour planning, appraisals, staff development, sickness and absence and disciplinary action
Financial

  • Ensure that an accurate system is in place for the financial control of stock and that the values of stock is kept within agreed targets
  • To contribute to the setting of and then achieving company productivity targets
  • To contribute to the setting of and then ensuring that key budget lines are monitored and achieved, these would always include purchasing, deliveries, production labour costs, machinery and tool maintenance, tool and machinery purchase as well as others as appropriate
General

  • To ensure that the companies health and safety policies and procedures are up to date, fully compliant with all relevant aspects of the law and being implemented in a dutiful and timely fashion throughout the company
  • To comply with all aspects of GDPR
  • Customer service is maintained at the highest level with all snagging queries dealt with in line with company targets and to the satisfaction of the customer.
  • To have overall responsibility for site security.
Generic Tasks

  • To represent the company in a professional manner and ensure company’s professional reputation is maintained both during contracted hours and outside them.
  • To comply with company policies and procedures at all times
  • Ensure that company vehicles are maintained as specified and are roadworthy at all times

Confident with Microsoft word, excel and outlookTo be able to manage a team of people to achieve specified targets in production and qualityAble to manage financial information and targets Be able to develop a team of people and expand their skills baseQualified to GCSE level or equivalent in English and MathsExperience in working in a wood-based manufacturing environment would be an advantageGood communication skillsHighly methodical and attention to detailAble to manage and work on a number of tasks concurrentlyAbility to work on own initiative with minimal supervision.Mature and professional attitude to all aspects of workAccurate timekeepingHold a current clean driving licenceProfessional attitude to personnel hygiene and appearance in keeping with a workshop environmentFlexible approach in terms of hours and mobility as some overnight stays will be required and at peak times the production operation will be running over 6 days
