Senior Business Analyst
Harvey Nash is working in partnership with the University of Birmingham to recruit a Senior Business Analyst on a permanent basis as the result of significant investment into their IT Services Function.

As part of a team of six reporting into the Business Analyst Manager, the role of Senior Business Analyst will be key in ensuring that the Business Analysis department delivers a high level of service across multiple projects and functions across the University. Working closely with the IT Business Partnering function, they will offer Business Analysis at an early stage to advise the University on an effective course of action. They will also investigate ideas and problems, formulate options for a way forward and produce business cases setting out their conclusions and recommendations.
To be successful, the Senior Business Analyst will proactively work to fully understand the Universities over-arching strategy and conduct their work with a view to supporting the strategy implementation and the achievement of business objectives. They will also introduce techniques that allow the business context to be the key foundation for understanding and evaluating all ideas, proposals, issues and problems put forward by the University.
The ideal candidate must have exposure to the following:
- Proven experience as a Business Analyst with a strong desire to develop
- Strong knowledge of and experience in all stages of Business Analysis, ie: strategy analysis, information search and investigation, business process mapping, requirements elicitation and management, benefits strategy and realisation
- Experience of third party application implementations and software development projects.
- Proactive approach to stakeholder management, driving forward collaboration for internal and third party relationships
- Public and private sector experience with commercial knowledge considered, with any Higher Education sector experience being particularly advantageous
