The role

This role is the Legal Ombudsman’s expert on data protection, freedom of information, information security, and all associated recognised good practice. You will also be our designated Data Protection Officer under the General Data Protection Regulation.

You will provide guidance and independent advice to senior management, and will coordinate programmes of activity to ensure LeO remains compliant with data protection and freedom of information legislation and HMG’s security policy framework.

What we are looking for

We are looking for someone that has experience in a similar role and can demonstrate their ability in dealing with requests for information under the Freedom of Information and Data Protection Acts.

You will be able to draft and/or present papers to Boards, sub-committee’s and senior managers. It is essential that you have experience in reporting and monitoring on compliance with legislation or good practice frameworks, you will be able to develop and deliver education and awareness initiatives

This role requires someone who is able to work on their own initiative but can also work within a team and across the organisation. You will need good verbal and written communication skills and be able to tailor your style to the audience needs. Knowledge of GDPR would be advantageous.
