Our Client is looking to rcruit a Procurement Manager to be based in Birmingham City Centre. You will be responsible for managing the procurement of all goods and services required to support the delivery of a signicantly large programme, along with co-ordinating procurement resources engaged in response to programme needs.
Specifically, you will be responsible for implementing procurement procedures in keeping with the procurement policy and you will advise on applicable EU and UK procurement legislation and developments. Your remit will also include co-ordinating the production of tender documents, facilitating the development of relationships with existing and potential suppliers as well as other procurement bodies.
Corporate Procurement Team cover all the other procurements required to support the business, spending approximately £350m per annum via around 350 procurement exercises.
The sourcing process for which corporate procurement are responsible includes but is not limited to the following activities:
• Stakeholder mapping;
• Stakeholder Management;
• Contract review;
• Review scopes of work;
• Review the market;
• Collate demand requirements;
• Manage all Governance requirements for successful contract award; and
• Setting up and administering support for Bravo and AWARD procurement systems.

Essential Criteria

• Strong analytical, commercial and negotiating skills;
• Skilled in compiling robust tender and commercial documents;
• Capability to manage your own work load and priorities.
• Excellent knowledge of applicable EU and UK procurement legislation;
• Awareness of government initiatives and policies and ability to assess relevancy and defend applicability;
• Background in procuring services through different routes depending on value including use of OJEU processes and government frameworks;
• Track record of procurement in planning stage of UK publically funded infrastructure projects;
• Good knowledge of different forms of contract and risk allocation;
• Good appreciation of supply market for technical services;
• Good understanding of planning and delivering major projects.


• Membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (or actively working towards);
• Knowledge and experience of working with or for publicly funded bodies including central government departments;
• Some experience of procurement in the private sector would be beneficial.
