Contract Product Owner – Birmingham, West Midlands
4 month contract with a view to extending to 10 months

350-370 per day

This advanced software house are looking to strengthen their Product team with an experienced Product Owner to deliver two new product initiatives over an initial 4 month period, with a possible extension for a further 6 months.

The new products will be within the Health and social care / care services industry.

The product owner will be an integral part of a SCRUM team working in an Agile software development environment and be the conduit for all stakeholders involved in the project.

The contract Product Owner must be able to manage your workload and accurately present information/analysis to stakeholders. By continuously providing relevant feedback, you will ensure the end product meets the highest standards, delivers value early and ultimately achieves the overall goal of the project in the required timescales. We want you to strive to uphold and improve team ethics, standards and practices continually.

Key Responsibilities:
The product owner will be accountable for the delivery of two new products to market
  • Understand the customer / user base and their product requirements
  • Manage internal and external stakeholders
  • Maintain and prioritise product level backlogs
  • Work within the SCRUM teams in a cross functional environment
  • Set the Sprint Goals in collaboration with the SCRUM team
  • Define User Stories and acceptance criteria
  • Help the development team vertical slice a project to deliver value early
  • Define test cases with testers in line with requirements
  • Facilitate software pilots prior to go live
  • Liaise with the offshore development team

Person Specification:

  • Excellent written communication skills with experience writing comprehensive yet clear, well-structured documentation
  • Excellent verbal communication skills to a range of technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to fully define a problem and assist in solution identification
  • Ability to bring clarity to a large problem and break it down into manageable chunks to deliver value to the end user at the earliest possible opportunity.
  • Ability to confidently present items and hold workshops in formal/informal environments
  • Ability to manage expectations and influence senior management across the business
  • Demonstrable expertise in the whole Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Experience of working within a SCRUM/Agile environment with Product Owner responsibilities
  • Active member of the SCRUM Product Owner community to stay on top of Agile best practices

It would be highly advantageous if you were able demonstrate an understanding of Health and Social Care industry.
