Transport Coordinator

Tamworth

Full Time - Permanent

Shifts - 4 on 4 off (0600-1800)

To provide an effective and efficient operational and administrative service for the transport function ensuring legal compliance of drivers and fleet. To work with the planning team, the warehouse FLM's and warehouse Clerks to ensure that loads are despatched in a timely manner. Also to ensure that plans are achieved and KPI's are met in line with the budget.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Monitor and review drivers tachographs for compliance with the law and ensure that drivers know of and confirm to customer service level requirements

  • Check and confirm volumes for the week and organise through preferred supplier of agency personnel drivers daily duties

  • Brief drivers at the start of every shift to communicate planned requirements. Debrief drivers on return to ascertain if any difficulties were encountered

  • Input details of depot fuel usage to ensure accurate and up-to-date information is available in terms of MPG by vehicle and by Driver versus budget.

  • To ensure customer KPI's are met by planning effectively.

  • Input workload onto EFX/CTMS

  • To ensure that all training related to Health and Safety is adhered to and any concerns regarding Health and Safety are reported to the relevant parties

  • To undertake such other duties as may be reasonably required for the effective operation of the Transport Department, which includes multi-skilling order to support other members of the team.

  • Brief drivers on their deliveries and any special delivery / collection instructions and or requirements

  • Allocate deliveries to drivers, taking into account skills, qualifications, abilities, experience and legal requirements

  • Liaise daily with Traffic Load Planner, internal Customer Service and other colleagues throughout the business

  • Tachograph analysis administration process managed correctly

  • Defect reporting procedure strictly adhered to

  • Compile and submit various performance data by way of performance, cost, volume and service delivery

  • To assist with the day to day scheduling and planning of the transport operation, ensuring vehicle utilisation is maximised at all times and service levels are adhered to.

Skills & Experience

  • Knowledge of driver's hours regulations, WTD, vehicle and trailer maintenance planning.

  • Previous experience of 3rd party warehouse operation

  • Understanding of Transport/Warehouse Management Systems, inventory management and transport systems

  • Good working understanding of the general principles of warehouse and transport operations

  • Goods communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Good telephone manner

  • PC Literacy

  • Ability to motivate self and work as part of a team

  • Good geographical knowledge

  • National CPC
