The school
This SEN school is based in the North Birmingham area and is looking for an NQT for a class of eight in KS1. All students are all on the Autistic spectrum and demonstrate mild behavioural challenges. Some students are high functioning and regularly work in small groups. This is a single form entry school and is expanded every year. The class has two established Learning Support Assistants who have developed very strong connections with their students and are an excellent source of information for new staff coming into this school.

This is a well established school and is graded as a good school by Ofsted; the management team is deeply committed to the needs of the pupils and its teaching staff. Resources and support are excellent.

The leadership team are looking for a dedicated and passionate NQT who can work autonomously and show great creativity in the education of this class. A teacher who is Team Teach trained and experienced in supporting pupils with mild behavioural difficulties is an advantage but not necessary.

The role

Your class will comprise of 8 students on the Autistic Spectrum, some of whom demonstrate mild behavioural difficulties. There is an existing, well established team of 2 Learning Support Assistants who will provide guidance and knowledge on the needs of each student as you settle into the role. The curriculum has been well implemented but you will be expected to input more creativity in the activities and delivery of the lessons you teach. There will be regular input and developmental work alongside the SENCo and Educational Psychologists and to support one student in particular, you will manage and monitor language therapy support with the language therapist.

The leadership team want you to develop and grow through their support and through the autonomy you will be afforded, to help turn this school into an outstanding centre for excellence.

The candidate

You are about to become or are already an NQT but haven't completed your first year. You have solid and varied experience within SEN and Primary. Your experience specifically with ASD and moderate behavioural management will be a valuable asset in your contribution to this school. Creativity and great delivery has been your trade mark while training and has been the corner stone of your positive observation results. A caring and truly caring, family environment is where you want to work, knowing that any challenges you face will always be met with partnership and dedication from the entire team. Knowing that you are happy to go into school the next day, is the feeling you want to have when you leave at the end of each day; you really want this and don't want a fun opportunity like this to get away.

To discuss this opportunity and details about what exactly you are looking for in your next permanent role, please send your CV to Anthony McClellan.
