The Senior Narrative Designer will work as part of a team to develop thegame's lore - the characters, the history and the themes that bind themtogether. You will be responsible for envisaging the living stage onwhich incredible player-created stories can take place, reporting to thelead narrative designer and working with game designers, artists andengineers to ensure everything about the world is coherent and meaningful.Qualifications Rare is an equal opportunity employer. Required Skills and Experience Excellent written communication skills. Proven ability to build worlds. Previous experience in creating and editing copy to a high standard. Ability to switch between different writing styles, tones and copy lengths, writing clearly and succinctly on subjects while retaining the game's tone. Ability to work independently, as part of the design team, sharing the lore across the entire team. Passion for and experience of games and gaming culture. Desirable Characteristics Demonstrably enthusiastic about communication and the written word. Manages work effectively and is well-organised and self-motivated. Can work effectively to long-term plans.Responsibilities Develop the game world map - imbuing it with a backstory that is reflected in distinctive regions and locations. Build out the game's characters - making them part of the world's lore with a life of their own and a part in the culture. Define an original world filled with distinctive and believable creatures. Write in-game text for adventures, NPC gossip and retrieved historical fragments. Ensure that team members are aware of what is tonally consistent and aligned with the creative team's vision. Maintain coherence between narrative elements. Create a brand bible and a glossary to ensure that language is consistent. Work with internal teams to ensure names have no legal issues etc. Maintain the team's internal wiki site ensuring that information is discoverable and relevant. - provided by Dice
