CDM are delighted to be working with an international business who specialise in the design, development and manufacture of metal automotive components.

Due to ongoing growth and an extremely positive year, there is an immediate, Permanent requirement for a NPI (New Product Introduction) Tooling Quotation Engineer to join the successful operation in Staffordshire.

Reporting to the Tooling Process Definitions Manager, this role is responsible to support development of new quotations for new business tooling requirements. Part feasibility (Autoform) and product to press asset alignment. Maintaining existing tool cost database. Supporting Customer Engineering tooling cost assessment reviews. Constantly monitor tooling cost down ideas. Tooling supplier liaison to ensure quote to cost alignment.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for supporting introduction of new tooling projects, including tooling process alignment to quoted costs
• Communication and Presentations, directly with Customers and internal
• Review and complete component feasibility with regards to tooling processes
• Ensure business tooling standards are adhered to
• Support New Tooling quotations, feasibility issues on awarded new projects, internal project quotation meetings and Engineering Changes to Die Tooling
• Create DFMEA and associated project risks
• Responsible to demonstrate a positive attitude towards change, with a willingness to be flexible and adapt to new circumstances

Skills and Experience

• Experienced and proven background in successful introduction of tooling supported by a tooling background including Presswork / Tooling / Toolroom / BIW / Chassis / Structural Panels
• Results driven, with the enthusiasm and resilience to see a job well done through effective ownership
• The ability to lead cross functional team members and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Current driving license, as travel to customers and suppliers will be required as and when necessary. Prepared for periods away from home at domestic and foreign customers and suppliers
• Have a valid passport (with minimum six months remaining)
• Engineering Apprenticeship as a Toolmaker or equivalent (Required) and HNC / Degree in Manufacturing or Engineering (Desirable)
