  • The SAP SD LE Consultant has a good understanding of client requirements, and overall retail/SAP functionality within ERP module
  • Defines and documents business requirements and validates solutions with the client. Works with business users to configure the module to translate business requirements into functional design specifications.
  • Assist in defining the mapping of high-level business requirements into appropriate and contemporary functional designs that deliver processes that fall in line with the overall strategic roadmap
  • To provide retail-specific solution design and configuration services to the Halfords business using predominantly SAP
  • Key contributor to continuous improvement across the team and wider IT department
  • An experienced consultant in the SAP domain acting as a key adviser in strategy, architectural and solution design reviews
The scale of the IT programme required by the Halfords business is such that there is a need for a consultant for the SAP solution design and configuration team that delivers business processes. There is also a need to ensure appropriate capacity and capability to deliver new and enhanced work packages, predominantly using SAP ECC6 and other contemporary modules.
Key Responsibilities:
  • A key member of the SAP Delivery team reviewing functional/technical changes based on SAP standard where possible
  • Design and deliver retail-specific processes and functional configuration in SAP and associated interfaces e.g. POS Retail, sales, distribution, logistics and procurement.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of test plans for business processes flowing through SAP
  • Translation of business requirements into a set of blueprints from which packaged software such as SAP can be configured and parameterised to perform specific sets of functionality based on requirements.
  • Conversion of blueprints into functional and technical solution design documents
  • To assist in the engagement with key stakeholders to manage expectations of delivery, estimations of timescales, competing priorities and technical issues
  • To assist in the engagement with third-parties and internal architecture and technical teams to develop and agree roadmap and transformation programmes for packaged applications such as SAP that deliver both business and IT strategies
  • Keep abreast of current and emerging SAP technologies and trends and assist in the selection of robust and appropriate technologies
  • Communication and analysis skills to listen to client and articulate back via presentations Problem solving skills to identify analyse and assist in solving business application problems in an ERP environment.
Person Specification:
  • At least 5 years of SAP SD, LES and MM experience in a corporate environment. Including hands on configuration skills and idoc/interface processing, reviewing error reports.
  • Project Management skills - successfully able to prioritise projects and manage/define projects in order to confirm deliverables, preferably within a retail environment and using ECC6 with Change Management and SDLC methodology
  • Experience of integration between SAP modules related to retail processes and other third-party systems, such as store and warehouse management systems
  • SAP upgrade experience (4.7 to ECC6 EHP6) desirable though not essential
  • End-to-end knowledge of core business processes in a typical medium to large-size Enterprise environment
  • Review functional/technical designs created by other consultants, applying in depth SD/LE/MM knowledge.
  • Lead SAP development team onsite/offshore supporting applications and projects - strong coordination skills and the ability to guide a development team.
  • Experience in managing and motivating people is an advantage
  • Educated to degree level or holds a professional qualification
  • Communicate effectively to key stakeholders and other IT team members
