Head of Fleet Procurement & Strategy

Due to continued success of this Fleet Management company a new role has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic Head of Fleet Procurement & Strategy to join the team at their modern and contemporary business. This award-winning group continue to build on their reputation for providing first class service to customers and business partners alike. Therefore, they are looking for a Head of Fleet Procurement & Strategy who shares the very same ethos.

Main Purpose & Function

To take full accountability in order to further develop and drive the groups fleet procurement and overall strategy including optimising acquisition, reducing cost and funding decisions.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To develop a long-term fleet strategy, to include purchasing, holding and financing decisions
  • To proactively oversee the management of the remarketing process for the group
  • Have a full depth and breadth knowledge of all aspects of fleet management
  • To deliver maximum financial return on fleet purchases whilst minimising all fleet holding cost and additional holding expenses
  • Develop effective relationships with key stakeholders including vehicle funders.
  • Proactively plan the group's fleet requirements: fleet size, mix (groups) and utilisation
  • Project manage and further establish relationships with fleet rental companies developing realistic and comprehensive sourcing timetables to ensure that fleet deadlines are understood, and measures are put in place to monitor cost effectiveness of short and medium-term fleet rental
  • Provide weekly and monthly reporting for the stakeholders in order to to provide visibility and progress against fleet strategy
  • To actively source alternative funding routes to purchasing vehicles
  • Take responsibility for the overall fleet pricing strategy
  • Management of fleet procurement and remarketing function

Knowledge & Experience Requirements:

  • Demonstrable experience working at a senior level in a similar role
  • Diverse fleet procurement and remarketing knowledge
  • Significant experience in fleet funding and fleet finance modelling
  • Commercial acumen including industry awareness and market knowledge and trends
  • Industry relationships which can be leveraged
  • Previous budgeting, planning and reporting experience with the ability to absorb data
  • and analyse information
  • Recognised accounting qualification e.g. CIMA, ACCA and/or qualified by experience
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills as well as an analytical and strategic mindset
  • Experienced negotiator, experience with negotiating contract terms
