Job Overview: Our client, an injection moulding manufacturer of automotive components has contracted our services as to appoint an experienced NPI Project Engineer to join their long running and growing company. (EXPIRES: 30/05/2018)

Job Overview: Retained by our client, a successful manufacturer of injection moulding components, we are looking to strengthen their team with the appointment of an experienced NPI Project Engineer.
You will be responsible for the management of a portfolio of NPI tooling introduction projects from tooling purchase order to suppliers through to product part acceptance by production and client following the APQP process. Each project activity will be managed through the development and control of project plans, tracked and updated through progress reportable tracking systems. As a Project Engineer you will be responsible in liaising with all departments and clients assigned to the project as well as budgetary control ensuring the manufacturing and financial efficiency of the project. You will also be responsible for the compilation of regular reviews and reports monitoring the project status to other members of the management team. You will have a good technical acumen, tooling experience and knowledge having proven experience with managing NPI programs of work.

As Project Engineer you will have previous NPI tooling introduction experience within injection moulding manufacturing and must have excellent inter-personal skills working with internal personal and developing relationships with client and tooling manufacturers.

Main Duties:
• Responsible for the development and delivery of NPI project activities including development and progress monitoring of individual projects timing plans aligned to the APQP process,
• Primary Customer contact for all aspects of a project,
• Achievement of project key targets, undertaking DFM and tooling GA approval design reviews, planning T sampling stages for AAR/ISIR/FAIRs approvals,
• Creation of project risk analysis,
• Creation and control of project spend including gap analysis,
• Assisting with providing suitable data to prepare RFQs for tooling cost purposes to both UK & FE tooling suppliers, subsequent interrogation of these costs to determine a preferred supplier,
• Interrogation of 2D drawings & 3D CAD data in order to determine part shot, sprue weights, IMM M/C tonnages including material cost analysis to support quotation process,
• Report to senior management on a weekly basis the status of your assigned NPI portfolio of projects through the NPI tracker following the APQP process,
• Liaison with clients and tooling manufactures which may include visits for project reviews and technical discussions.

Person Specification:
• Proven NPI project management record within an injection moulding manufacturing environment,
• Holder of a recognized Engineering/Tooling Apprenticeship or qualification,
• Holder of a recognized project management/controls qualification will be beneficial,
• Resilient, with the ability to work to tight deadlines,
• Able to take responsibility and ownership of all tasks within NPI process whilst liaising with supporting functional teams,
• Structured and logical approach to problem solving, RFT approach,
• Competent with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and Microsoft project,
• Experience of working with technical tooling 2D drawings / 3D CAD operating systems,
• Awareness of the H&S requirements associated with working in a factory environment,
• Strong team working ethic, with ability to operate between supporting functional groups,
• Excellent communication skills, able to produce clear and succinct reports,
• Cost management awareness,
• Experience within automotive, manufacturing would be an advantage however not essential,
• IMM Process engineering and optimization techniques would be beneficial,
• Experience of generating and updating project FMEAs would be beneficial,
