The Clinical Lead will provide line management of staff and to lead a Therapeutic
Community The role is predominately clinical in line management accountabilities but
does include the support of operational (custodial) delivery.

Skills and experience;

To have experience working in a therapeutic environment and to be able to maintain
the safety and integrity of that environment. This is to include being confident in
describing the TC model and it is desirable to be sufficiently knowledgeable of TC
principles to teach/train other staff in that area.
Clinical Skills:
To provide specialist psychodynamic psychotherapy assessment of residents referred
to the team based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex
data from a variety of sources.
To make skilled evaluations to formulate and implement plans for the treatment and
management of resident's mental health difficulties based on a psychodynamic
conceptual framework and employing research based evidence.
To be responsible for developing a formulation of the residents psychological and
mental health difficulties using different theoretical models to maintain a number of
provisional hypotheses in reaching such formulation and the treatment plan. To use this
formulation in agreeing an effective treatment plan in collaboration with the resident.
To provide specialist group psychodynamic and analytic psychotherapy with clinical
autonomy drawing on a range of models

Essential Qualifications;

You will be a qualified psychodynamic psychotherapist and / or group analyst registered
with the UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy) or BPC (British
Psychoanalytic Council). (British Psychoanalytic Council). You will be qualified with substantial post-qualification clinical experience in forensic or mental health work. The post holder will need to be able to work autonomously, have experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and be able to make good use of supervision and line management.
The position requires knowledge of Forensic Psychological & Democratic Therapeutic
Community theories, practices & procedures employed within a custodial setting, requiring experience of delivering therapeutic environments or practices, preferably in a
Forensic Settings
The position requires conducting & overseeing the psychological & emotional treatment
& rehabilitative therapeutic approaches which best serve the needs of residents, within
the multidisciplinary team & complying with institutional policies and procedures.
