This role, working 2.5 days per week, is required following the University’s
successful application for European Regional Development Funding (ERDF) to support the development of a Centre for Research into Environmental Science and Technology (CREST) in partnership with Reaseheath College.
The primary purpose of this role is to work as part of a team, supporting those aspects of CREST project and work of the Department of Geography and International Development that are delivered in the mapping and analytical laboratories. The post holder will provide technical support and guidance for commercial businesses and CREST research staff using the laboratory facilities. This will include the set up and maintenance of laboratory and fieldwork equipment, the preparation of samples and resources for laboratory based research and support with Geographical Information Systems (GIS).
You will have a strong record of previous laboratory work involved in research either commercial and/or academic. You will also have experience of successfully managing project resources, and be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills. It is desirable for you to have project experience in a higher education environment and experience or knowledge of environmental science.
