We are looking for dedicated and passionate people to work as Forensic Psychologist at HMP Dovegate.

HMP Dovegate is a category B male establishment prison based on the Staffordshire/Derbyshire border near Uttoxeter. The operational capacity is for 1100 inmates who are serving a range of sentences including; trial, remand, those awaiting sentence and convicted men serving between 4 years to life.

Your primary job purpose will be to manage the delivery of Psychological Services for the Therapeutic Community, HMP Dovegate. You will be responsible for the forensic / clinical support of the staff team, ensuring that training, and professional development is managed effectively and appropriately.

To have oversight of the delivery of Psychological Services within the TC ensuring that psychological work is compliant with the BPS and HCPC codes of conduct. To develop the assessment process and provide psychological input to the management of the TC. To provide direct forensic leadership for the delivery of psychological / educational interventions aimed at reducing the likelihood of violent and general recidivism, whilst upholding and putting into practice TC values & principles.

Key Requirements

* Manage and / or supervise the FPiT.
* Establish and develop the preliminary assessments such as psychometrics and IQ, developing psychological/ educational induction programmes to introduce residents to TC and build motivation and resilience.
* To manage and develop the assessment process throughout the TC. This will involve having oversight of the assessment process, management or supervisory responsibility for psychologists based on communities.

* Making clinical decisions regarding selection/ de-selection from induction unit and during the assessment process as well as external referrals.
* Completion of Parole reports complying with deadlines.
* To carry out psychological assessments of prisoners including HCR-20, WAIS, IPDE and PCL-r.
* To oversee and conduct research on the TC,

Essential qualifcations

Minimum: Forensic Psychologist Registered with HCPC and Chartered with BPS.

Desirable: PCL-r certification, On the Register of Applied Psychology Practice

Supervisors with the BPS

Essential technical, professional skills, knowledge and experience

Experience:

Minimum: Experience of working as a Forensic Psychologist.

Experience of working within a Therapeutic Community.

Experience of working with offenders and carrying out assessments and interventions with a forensic population.

Desirable: of supervising others.

Experience of working with personality disordered offenders.

Experience of writing parole reports for life sentenced prisoners, completing HCR-20, PCL-r, IPDE assessments, WAIS assessments.

Experience of research.

Knowledge:

Psychological theory regarding prisoners and forensic environments, particularly working with violent and personality disordered offenders. Familiar with the 'what works' literature and of a range of psychotherapeutic treatment approaches. Understanding of literature underpinning democratic therapeutic communities and the principles of therapy.

Skills:

Administration, scoring and interpretation of psychological assessments such as WAIS, HCR-20, PCL-r, IPDE, VRS.
