The vision for this department is for a dynamic, modern and innovative team that utilises digital methods and new ideas to communicate and engage effectively with businesses and wider stakeholders.

The main focus of the communication function will be to implement high quality messages to the local business community, media channels and stakeholders. This will be in line with the key messaging on certain topics with content providing thought leadership, proactive commentary and media relationships.

This will be a role that requires excellent communication skills (especially written) and a good understanding of the marketing function.

Key tasks

• Content creation in line with the annual communication plan, covering all channels including copy for online sources.

• Responsible for the creation and distribution of press releases that are proactive and planned throughout the year, as well as reactive content to breaking news. Highlighting the representative view of local businesses.

• Active relationship seeking and management of local media contacts with the Head of Policy, Marketing and Communications.

• Marketing material creation based on briefs and with the support of an external marketing agency. e.g. brochures and documents.

• Magazine editor for the quarterly member magazine, Prosper. The main day to day contact with the external producers of the magazine, content review and creation for the editorial section.

• Production of thought leadership content for online documents (including blog content). Working with external sources and internal team members to support on this.

• All content in line with KPIs and overall objectives.

• Frequent report on content success through all channels and this will lead to intelligence for future creation. Focusing on content that is of high quality and supports businesses.

• Utilisation of the CRM system to make sure activity and interests can be tracked.

• Management of external contracts to deliver objectives.

Job requirements

• An understanding of the B2B landscape.

• Good communication skills at all levels and across a variety of channels, including excellent written skills.

• Experience in marketing and/or a press related role.

• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills to ensure objectives are achieved.

• Ability to effectively liaise with all external suppliers/contacts.

• Works well in a team and across functions.

• Full driving license and access to a car.

• Enthusiastic and positive individual with a can-do attitude.

• Embraces and identifies new ideas, with an understanding of the digital landscape.

In return you will benefit from:

* £21,000 - £27,000
* 25 days per year plus public holidays
* Company Pension scheme 6% contribution based on employee contribution of 1.5% subject to government changes
* Death in Service Insurance – 3 x gross salary

The above role is based on a permanent full time basis 35 hours per week Monday – Friday The seniority of this role requires some flexibility in response to business requirements including the need to attend some meetings outside normal office hours.
