The role will involve running support sessions, ranging from group sessions to individual targeted support with a number of children of all abilities. You will plan alongside the teachers in KS2, helping you to develop your teaching skills and provide fun and engaging sessions. This KS2 Graduate Learning Mentor involves supporting the individual needs of the pupils in class whilst personalising their learning through adapting lesson planning and activities in order to plug gaps in areas such as problem solving.
To be considered for this role you will need to be an inspiring graduate with a minimum 2:1 degree. You will be passionate about education and have some previous experience of working with young people but not necessarily within a school setting. The school are looking for graduates with the drive to assess and meet the social and academic needs of groups of children. The ideal candidate for this should be passionate about maths and be able to inspire and engage the pupils they teach.
The school offer a well-structured induction programme for all new staff and you will be provided with both training and knowledge to enable you to support the children across KS2 effectively. You will deliver targeted intervention to small groups, promoting maths and literacy as a fun subject in order for children to access the curriculum and overcome any barriers to their learning. Your role will develop higher levels of achievement and progress will be tracked by the teacher.
