We are currently representing a leading worldwide manufacturing company with almost 60 years’ experience in both design and production of equipment supplied into the construction industry. They continue to innovate, boasting a comprehensive portfolio of equipment specifically developed to revolutionise operations for construction professionals worldwide – saving time, money and labour.

They are currently recruiting for a Purchasing Manager to lead a small team of 5 Buyers on site. The role reports in the MD directly and sits on the leadership board. This role is fully responsible for all commercial aspects of procurement and supporting smooth flow of material both into and through the factory. They will be ensuring a total cost of ownership approach without compromising quality, delivery or time whilst managing time controls to ensure the items are shipped in a timely cost effective manner. The working hours are 8:30 – 5 Monday to Thursday with an early finish at 2pm on Fridays.

Responsibilities

Deliver and develop the purchasing strategy across the following areas – cost reductions, lead-time reduction, inventory optimisation, payment term extension, supplier performance and other SMART objectives

Develop supplier base to ensure excellent supplier performance
*

Ensure all purchasing team members negotiate effectively to gain cost reduction opportunities based on a total cost approach
*

Manage the purchase requisition process ensuring timely sign off, adherence to process in accordance with company policy and procedures
*

Provide leadership and development to the team through effective coaching

Experience required

*

CIPS
*

Degree in Engineering, Technical or Business related discipline
* Industry experience within automotive, construction or general engineering
*

Ability to lead, coach, motivate and develop people
*

Experience working in a Lean manufacturing environment
*

Experience with budget management
*

Results orientated
*

Strong negotiation skills
*

Understanding contracts and contract law
*

Track record of building high performance teams
*

Good PC Skills – Excel, Word, MRP systems
