Mechanical Engineering Fitter / Machine Tool Fitter.
Thompson Friction Welding is a renowned world leader in the manufacture of special purpose machine tools with a reputation for being at the forefront of innovative design and technology in their product range.
We are actively seeking to recruit several Mechanical Machine Tool Fitters to satisfy our rapidly expanding order book, ideally you will be a fully time served Mechanical Craft Apprentice with City and Guild qualifications and also possess a minimum of five years’ experience in a technical fitting role within a machine tool or high-precision related industry.
The purpose and remit of the Mechanical\Machine Fitter role:
Mechanical Assembly, Fitting and Inspection of friction welding machines within set time frames and quality standards.
Ensure all activities are completed within Health and Safety guidelines.
Actively engage with all company Quality Control initiatives.
Reduce the amount of reworked parts or amendments.
The Mechanical Machine Tool Fitter experience and qualifications required:
Previous mechanical, fitting and assembly experience in a high-precision environment.
Ability to work to tight tolerances and use hand tools and measuring equipment.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, have a detailed and methodical approach
Experienced in the use of engineering workshop tools and machinery (Surface Grinders, Manual Lathes, Milling & Drilling Machines)
Hand scrape, de-burr and mottling.
Pipe Fitting skills. (Hydraulic, Pneumatic and Lubrication Lines) would be an advantageous
Strong communication skills working with Supervisor, Team Leaders and peers on the shop floor.
Team player who can work to targets and deadlines.
Highly motivated, proactive and innovative to help improve processes.
Ability to work under pressure but still work to very high standards.
A current UK driving licence and eligible to work in the UK
