The Role A Sales Engineer is required by the largest assembly tooling distributor in the UK to sell power tools to the industry, to grow and develop the customer base by winning new business and growing existing accounts. You will be involved in actively seeking new companies, some from leads provided, who will benefit from the services on offer and develop relationships with these customers. Covering Birmingham and some southern areas you will be tasked with expanding our current customer data base, you will be required to deliver on quotations and further negotiation to obtain the sale. Technical sales engineers combine technical knowledge with sales skills to provide advice and support on a range of products. Aim of the role: Technical sales engineers are a key point of contact for clients and provide both pre- and after-sales advice. They liaise regularly with other members of the sales team and colleagues from a range of departments, such as research, development, design, purchasing, production and quality, as well as senior company managers. Key Responsibilities: Typical work activities and Tasks typically involve: searching for new clients who might benefit from company products or services and maximising client potential in designated regions; developing long-term relationships with clients through managing and interpreting their requirements; persuading clients that a product or service best satisfies their needs in terms of quality, price and delivery; calculating client quotations and administering client accounts; providing pre-sales technical assistance and product education, and after-sales support services; analysing costs and sales; preparing reports for head office; meeting regular sales targets and coordinating sales projects; supporting marketing activities by attending trade shows, conferences and other marketing events; making technical presentations and demonstrating how a product meets client needs; liaising with other members of the sales team and other technical experts; The Candidate Some experience in field sales and an engineering background would be an advantage but essentially we are looking for an enthusiastic hard working individual who will learn from the experienced team around them, full product training will be available. Product portfolio includes Desoutter, Bosch, Makita and Ingersol Rand power tools and accessories. An understanding of the automotive, rail or aerospace industries is essential. Skills, qualifications and experience: The successful candidate will have:- Knowledge in Automotive industry DC Tools, Battery Tool, Air Tools, Power Tools is essential. An excellent track record of sales; both new business generation and client development A track record of mechanical and electrical engineering Experience in automotive assembly and service An awareness of Power Tooling, PLC's, Mechanical Drawings and TPM Processes
