A new technology centre, in receipt of considerable government funding are seeking an experienced Head of Logistics to oversee the distribution and transportation of goods from the manufacturer to the consumer.

Commutable from: Warwick, Leamington Spa, Coventry, Birmingham.

Salary: up to 60,000 p.a.

Suitable for: Logistics Manager, Logistics Co-ordinator, Head of Logistics, Supply Chain Manager, Logistics Specialist.

The Role

º Overall responsibility for all Materials Planning and Logistics activities across the business
º Create and implement best practice Materials Planning and Logistics vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance
º Oversee and manage inventory integrity and review ways to reduce inventory levels
º Ensure IT systems in place are effective, accurate and maintained and review opportunities to standardise and streamline utilising current or new systems
º Provide leadership, and manage, coach and develop direct reports
º Prepare the annual Materials Planning and Logistics budget and forecasts and all Capital Expenditure proposals as well as ensuring compliance with customer and legal requirements.
º Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
º Contribute to new business initiatives and projects

The Candidate

The Head of Logistics will be:
º Educated to degree level (preferably Masters) in a relevant Logistics, commercial or engineering discipline
º Preferably a Fellow or Member of The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport
º Previous experience of leading Materials Planning and Logistics within a manufacturing environment (ideally Automotive) with expert knowledge and understanding of automotive processes and components and of supply chain management
º Proven leadership and management experience within Logistics and automotive
º Proven customer management skills
º Expert knowledge of technical regulations and legislation
º Strong IT systems knowledge - Advanced Excel user
º Knowledge of raw materials, distribution of goods and manufacturing processes
º Ability to analyse and manipulate technical and complex data and provide meaningful information
º Knowledge of lean techniques would be advantageous
