Do you want to be in communities, creating conversations, building relationships, inspiring action? We'll pay you for it!

Community organising is about building relationships and networks in communities that mean together people can tackle their issues.

We’ve always thought that the thing people need in life when they’ve got problems isn’t so much services. What they really need most is good people around them. Sometimes the best answer to our problems is each other.

Helping people stay well and reducing loneliness is about what ordinary people can do together.

The work of a Community organiser focuses on building relationships with and mobilising people in communities. You encourage them to come together and create their own solutions to the issues that matter to them. In this case the community means the specific community of people experiencing a chronic or long-term health condition as well as other people in Coventry who can identify with their causes and issues. The project you will work on is called Self Care Social.

Background to the job: Self Care Social is funded by the Big Lottery’s Building Connections Programme, set up following the Prime Minister's endorsement of the Jo Cox Commission recommendations, to support projects that are able to prevent or reduce loneliness. It aims to produce greater levels of community action across the city so that people can connect and create their own initiatives that bring them together and help keep them strong.

Working Pattern
Flexible hours per week; 8% pension contribution. This can be either a full-time role or two part-time ones.
If shortlisted you will be invited to one half day long recruitment 'assessment' event. These will take place in Coventry on 21st February and interviews will be on 28th February or 1st March.

We encourage you to talk to us about these roles. Apply by emailing your application to us. Email address is on the application form. Please put the job reference GV/SCS on your form so we know which job you are applying for.
