We are now looking for x6 Income Recovery Officers to start ASAP on a 3-month ongoing basis with the possibility to extend for a good performer. On-the-job training will support you during your first week so that you can be fully able to commit to the role. You will be paid a competitive hourly rate at £12.37 per hour.
Your new role
As an Income Recovery Officer you will be working in our Sandwell Council offices with hours of work from Monday - Friday from 9am - 5:30pm equating to 37 hours per week, great if you're looking for set hours to work around your daily routine. Your role will involve working in a busy office environment providing hands-on support on a caseload basis in areas such as rent accounts, housing benefits and other debt recovery services. You will need detailed knowledge of arrears management, procedures and processes, including the legal framework/housing legislation for the recovery of housing related debt and good practice. You will be working in the Income Management department to contribute to the provision of a high quality, customer focussed income management service. You will be providing prompt and effective action which is mandatory when delivering correspondence via email and phone. Your role will entail using ICT systems to review tenant accounts, recovering outstanding rent/housing arrears and other associated debts up to Court stage as well as reviewing and helping with temporary accommodation processes such as applications. You may also be required to visit tenants to discuss payment strategies to reduce arrears. We are looking for someone with a strong background in debt recovery within the housing sector with strong I.T and finance literacy. Dealing with confidential information will play a big part in this position so the ideal candidate should have a sense of accuracy and confidentiality whilst working with vulnerable customers.
What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate will have strong experience providing exceptional customer service to vulnerable individuals and have knowledge of safeguarding. Experience and a background in finance/accounts would is desirable as it is a heavily financial position. If you have previously worked in a housing environment you will benefit from the types of clientele you will liaise with. Candidates of a reliable and efficient work ethic will be highly considered as this is a temporary vacancy which runs for 3 months and may be ongoing for a good performer, meaning you will be required to commit to the whole duration of the role with no holiday booked. You may find that it is beneficial to obtain a Full UK Drivers license for this role to allow easier access to location and potential off-site visits, however bus routes can be found a short distance away. We will need to obtain a reference for your 2 most current ex-employers in order to consider your application.
