Graduate Mechanical Engineer - Tooling

Heavy Industrial Manufacturing, Hereford

Circa GBP23-GBP29k (negotiable dependent on experience) + benefits

Working for the world's leading innovator and manufacturer of nickel-based superalloys you will use your knowledge and experience to provide engineering support to the Tooling department. You will be working closely with Production, Supervisors, Engineers and Planners, so good technical and communication skills will be required. In return we will support your ongoing professional development as a member of our established Engineering team.

This role would suit someone with experience in a similar role and / or recent graduates with a passionate desire to drive manufacturing excellence.

Graduate Mechanical Engineer - Tooling Responsibilities include:

  • Day to day management and control of tooling and assemblies, ensuring that Key Performance Indicators of Safety, Quality, Productivity and Cost are met
  • Assisting with the development of short and medium term plans in line with order demands and company objectives
  • The continuous improvement of tooling through the design and selection of solutions to enhance overall performance, increase tooling life and reduce costs
  • Ensuring that tools are processed and prepared to adequate quality standards and inspection testing procedures
  • Ensuring machines are operated to optimum capability, utilizing lean methods such as OEE, maximising machine availability and monitoring maintenance requirements
  • Maintaining effective communication with all levels in the Production area and other business functions

Applicant Requirements:

  • Degree qualified in an engineering discipline (ideally Mechanical Engineering)
  • Previous demonstrable engineering or technical experience working within a manufacturing environment desirable but not mandatory
  • Previous experience in tool management advantageous but not essential
  • Problem solving mind-set, results driven, with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
