Summary

It’s all about delivering excellent customer service. If you’re looking for a role that will offer you variety, the opportunity to meet people, and an amazing location to work in, we’ve got the job for you.

What it's like to work here

Created as the perfect house in the perfect setting, Berrington Hall has many secrets for visitors to uncover. In this, one of Henry Holland's first houses, visitors can explore the family rooms and see how the servants moved around the house unseen by the family and guests.

The interiors include Biaggio Rebecca ceilings, fine period furniture and there are some pieces on display from the Wade Collection. The house is surrounded by Capability Brown's final landscape. Though it has a slightly austere exterior, the house has delicate interiors and a homely, welcoming feel.

What you'll be doing

Our commercial work is essential to our continued funding. Whether it’s the car park, visitor reception, retail shop, or our café or restaurant, you’ll be part of the operations team, responsible for ensuring that we continue to deliver excellent customer service every day.

You’ll be responsible for ensuring the presentation of our commercial areas is spot on, engaging our visitors, making them feel welcome and keeping all areas clean and tidy. You’ll be responsible for working across all areas of the operations team, providing support to the teams as needed. You’ll tell our visitors about the amazing work we do and what their money is funding.

This role will be predominately based in our retail team for approximately 2 days per week but during busy periods, such as Bank Holidays, will be supporting our reception and café teams when needed.

Who we're looking for

To be part of a successful team in this varied role, you’ll need to have:

  • Fantastic customer service skills
  • Initiative and ability to work alone
  • Ability to work in a variety of teams, with a flexible approach
  • High standards of presentation and an eye for detail
  • Genuine enthusiasm for working with people
  • Good understanding of the National Trust and what we do
