Solvay - Oldbury, West Midlands

Solvay currently has the following exciting vacancies at its Oldbury, West Midlands chemical manufacturing site. Part of Solvay’s Technology Solutions Global Business Unit, the Oldbury site predominantly produces Phosphorus based chemicals for use in the Oil & Gas, Industrial Commodities and Agro markets.

Safety Stores (RPE Maintenance) Technician – circa £35,500 pa, plus bonus scheme.

Role involves undertaking all aspects of respiratory protective equipment (RPE) maintenance and testing, undertaking mechanical maintenance tasks, together with management of the site safety stores. An apprenticeship (minimum NVQ level 3 or equivalent) within a maintenance or engineering discipline is required together with previous RPE maintenance experience. Driving licence is required.

Procure to Pay Specialist – competitive salary plus bonus scheme.

Role supports and trains internal users in the execution of their PtP transactional activities across Solvay’s UK activities, driving user performance and compliance while implementing new processes tools and best practices. Degree qualified with procurement experience you have strong customer and problem solving orientation. Role involves travel to other Solvay UK sites.

Logistics Operator – circa £27,500 pa, plus bonus scheme.

Responsible for the storage and loading of finished products, control and offloading of incoming goods & raw materials, operation of the logistics hub / gatehouse to receive and despatch materials and maintaining computerised records. Previous experience in an industrial warehouse/logistics environment and counterbalance FLT licence desirable. The role involves working early shifts with 6am starts and late shifts with 6pm finishes Monday to Friday.

Day Services/Support Operators – circa £31,500 pa plus bonus scheme.

Working alongside our shift operating teams the Day Services/Support team are responsible for the safe, environmentally compliant and efficient operation of the site services (steam generation boilers, effluent treatment unit, compressed air generation, nitrogen and water distribution systems) and the site bulk offloading and storage facility. In addition these positions provide site wide support to the production units. You will ideally have experience of operating industrial steam boilers and be BOAS certified. The role involves working 12 hour day shifts on a weekday rota. The Logistics and Day Services/Support Operator roles are feeder positions for Shift Process Operator roles and future willingness to work weekends and nightshifts is essential.

For all positions you must have good communication skills, be thorough, accurate, self-motivated, flexible, a good team player yet able to proactively work alone. You must be able to follow procedures and pay attention to detail. You must be IT literate with SAP experience desirable. You will ideally have experience of working in a Chemical Manufacturing plant environment. Salaries are inclusive of committed hours.
