My client is a world leader in the Aerospace sector. They are one of the UK's leading design and manufacturers of high precision components.

The role

Due to an increase in demand to meet customers' requirements and unparalleled growth in their market, a fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Metrology Engineer/CMM Programmer to join their highly skilled team.

The Metrology Engineer/CMM Programmer will be responsible for driving consistent standards and performance improvements through rigorously defining inspection criteria, working on new product instruction and continuous improvements supporting the Metrology function across the business.

Working mainly through PCDMIS and Mitutoyo programs, you will interpret drawings and specifications using GD&T and Engineering knowledge to define inspection specifications, writing and technically supporting CMM program generation.

The Metrology Engineer/CMM Programmer will also be responsible for:

* Metrology Methods and Practices.

* CMM Programming and Inspection Techniques.

* First Article evaluations and reporting, including utilisation of IPI VISUAL FAIR Software.

* New Product Introduction evaluation to Internal and External Specification.

* Closed loop feedback of evaluated data with the Conformance team to foster continuous improvement and production.

* Supporting Aerofoils Gauge Room Activities: Including Gauge Manufacture, MSA, Gauge R & R and Gauge Calibration.

* Participating in site wide metrology activities to further business needs.

* Participate in the calibration procedure and drive consistent adherence with support from other functions.

* Improve production evaluation, Gauges, Vernon Columns, HMI and Implementation of new technologies.

* Help to train others for Programming of CMM's and Operation alongside other dimensional evaluation techniques.

* Use SPC software for data analysis of the Metrology Centre and for production processes.

* Monitor CMM capacity and support dimensional evaluations for the other Business Units.

* Control of Metrology processes by introduction of standard training packs - QPS/WES

* Drive continuous improvement projects and participates in other projects where required by the business.

* Participate in R&D projects as necessary to further business interests.

Ideally you will have/be:

* Design Engineering/Conformance Engineering within a manufacturing environment.

* HNC in Engineering discipline.

* PC-DMIS and/or Mitutoyo programming experience is essential.

* Competence or willingness to learn IPI Visual FAIR.

* Proven track record as a project leader.

* Proven track record with a successful relevant portfolio of achievements desirable.

Hours of work

Monday to Thursday (07.30am - 4.30pm) and Friday (07.30am - 12.30pm).

Salary - GBP30'000 - GBP35'000 dependent on experience.
