Quality Control Technician - Aerospace Manufacturing - Attractive - Warwickshire

A Quality Control Technician is required to join and Innovative Aerospace Manufacturing facility on a Permanent Basis. The successful Quality Control Technician will join the Quality Dept and report to the Quality Cell Leader.

The Quality Control Technician will ensure that the manufactured products are compliant with the relevant technical specifications and customer drawings through inspection, non-destructive and mechanical testing and metallographic inspection

Responsibilities of the Quality Control Technician

  • To provide technical assistance on metallurgical defects and mechanical test failures
  • Use 8D methodology to problem solve quality issues
  • Analysis of dimensional, mechanical and metallurgical defects
  • To provide detailed Quality Reports and analysis for the Quality Assurance Manager
  • To carry out pre-plate and after plate inspection in accordance with work instructions
  • To carry out Hydrogen and Oxygen analysis in accordance with work instructions
  • To carry out 'final view' inspection, ensuring that all information is correct
  • To check accuracy of information on test reports and Certificates of Conformance's
  • Non-destructive tests to include Magnetic Particle Inspection and Dye Penetrant Inspection
  • Mechanical tests including: tensile, shear, fatigue, stress durability/endurance tests
  • To carry out hardness checks and metallographic inspection on parts
  • To review incoming raw material certificates
  • Quality Control Technicians may also be required to perform internal audits to AS9100
  • Undertake any other duties/responsibilities as reasonably requested by management

Qualifications & Requirements of the Quality Control Technician

  • Effective communication skills and experience within a Quality Control role
  • HNC/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in an Engineering discipline
  • Recognised qualification in Metallurgy or Material Science
  • NDT Level II is required with evidence of training and examinations
  • Working within a Manufacturing Environment and Fluent in English
  • Experience within a forgings and/or thread rolling Environment
  • Customer focused, initiative, teamwork, transparency, autonomy and hands-on
  • Must have Mechanical testing and Metallographic Inspection Skills
  • The employee should be process driven and able to problem solve
  • Ability to understand technical operations and processes
  • Computer literate with a basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • A good understanding of engineering drawings and technical specifications
  • Knowledge and ability to use measuring equipment (e.g. Micrometres, Vernier's)
  • A good understanding of supplier/customer relationships

Security Clearance may be required due to the nature of the products being manufactured
