Job Role: Housekeeper in a Hospital Environment based in Stoke on trent
Hours: 37.5 hours working a shift pattern 5 days over 7 days (weekends may be required)
Rate of Pay GBP8.43
Start: 18th February 2018 Temporary position
Overview
The purpose of the job will be to ensure an effective and efficient ward housekeeping service is delivered within the ward area for which the job holder has responsibility. The main element of the role is to ensure a seamless approach to the provision of hotel services through direct responsibility for certain patient care tasks, liaison with other departments or through the supervisions of the cleaning assistants and Ward Host/ess. They are also to ensure an efficient and patient focused lunch and evening meal service is delivered within the ward areas for which the job role holder has responsibility. They will ensure cleanliness and hygiene standards within the ward environment are monitored and maintained at all times.
Duties
  1. Main Duties / Responsibilities
  • Deliver a patient focused ward housekeeping service to the designated ward area demonstrating high standards of patient care and customer service at all times and to provide a focal point for individual patients in relation to their day to day non-clinical needs.
  • Introduce yourself and team to new patients
  • Ensure that personal privacy, dignity and confidentiality relating to the Trust's operation at ward level is maintained.
  • Supervise the duties of the Cleaning Assistants and Ward Hostesses on a day to day basis to ensure they are carrying out tasks to the required standards.
  • Ensure linen is put away tidy and linen room kept clean
  • Liaise with the ward team, cleaning assistants and ward hostesses to ensure that the days work is co-ordinated in the most appropriate way in order to deliver the highest standards of patient services.
  • Ensure that the ward is safe and tidy at all times and free of clutter.
  • Act as a liaison between the ward team, cleaning assistants and ward hostesses and other departments within the Hotel Services to ensure a seamless service.
  • Carry out joint and independent cleanliness monitoring and patient satisfaction surveys and support the development of agreed action plans and track progress as required.
  • Work co-operatively with colleagues as part of the ward team and perform additional duties as and when directed by the ward team to enable nursing staff to undertake direct patient care.
  • Identify where patients experience could be enhanced and to communicate ideas and suggestions to the Ward Sister/Manager
  • Report faults to estates
  • Co-ordinate ward scheduled curtain changes and change curtains when soiled.
