Our client based in Staffordshire are recruiting for a Technical Manager within the Structural sector to lead and develop a technical team in this area.

Principle responsibilities are;

  • Lead the Structures tab team (c. 10 FTE)
  • Scope new projects with the sales team
  • Set work programs for larger scale customized projects
  • Interpret test results
  • Add technical input and added value into reports
  • Such other duties as may be reasonably required by the Company

Demands within the role;

  • Manual Handling (lifting / carrying objects of varying size and weight)
  • Kneeling / bending / sitting / standing for long periods
  • Use of ladders / steps (including working at height)
  • Use of Display Screen Equipment
  • Operating machinery / hand held power tools
  • Working in confined spaces
  • Exposure to agents (chemicals, noise, heat, dust)
  • Driving (more than 2,000 miles per year for business purposes)
  • Vision / manual dexterity
  • Mental demands (pressured environment)
  • Must be willing to work away for periods of time

Qualifications/knowledge & experience for this position;

  • Civil engineering or structural engineering degree or HNC/HND
  • Some experience in working in a test environment
  • Experience of leading a team & managing operational delivery
  • Experience in working with European and National Standards
  • Project management experience
  • Ability to design tests and test equipment
  • CAD trained
  • CSCS card holder
  • Driving license
  • Good problem solver
  • Good practical skills

Salary between GBP40 - GBP50k per annum
