Job Title: Design Engineer

Location: Stoke-On-Trent

Salary: cGBP30k

The Job:

As Design Engineer/Draughtsperson you will be based within the Technical Department of the Standard Solutions Platform where the primary aim is to create mechanical designs, drawings and information packages for a standard range of water treatment equipment.

You will be required to update and modify existing products as required by our policy of cost reduction and continuous improvement, to design new products in line with the product brief and to work in accordance with the company Quality System.

Responsibilities:

* Ensuring drawings, BOMs, specifications, and other engineering information is produced in a timely manner in accordance with agreed timescales.

* Generate 2D and 3D drawings and models based upon the information provided and based upon the individual's experience and knowledge.

* Ensure that the design produced is commercially and technically the best possible.

* Maintain standards that conform to the SSP standards and company procedures.

* Generate occasional electrical drawings based on information provided by the C&I Engineering Team.

* Produce designs that are compliant with health, safety and environmental legislative requirements.

* Working closely with Product Managers, Process Engineers and Electrical Design Engineers.

* General administration duties including modification notes, QA procedures and Aquapart.

* Occasional overseas travel to other SSP Design Offices.

Skills and Experience:

* HND in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent or qualified by experience.

* Experience with Creo 3D software, proven experience with similar 3D Cad software i.e. Inventor or Solidworks as an alternative would be useful.

* Proven experience in using Windchill PDM package, proven experience with a similar PDM package as an alternative is desirable.

* Experience of practical design and manufacturing would be an advantage.

* Excellent communications skills, both verbally and in writing. Able to explain things in a clear and concise manner.

* Experience in the water treatment industry would be an advantage.

* A high degree of flexibility is required to ensure project targets are met.

* Security is a vital part of product development and the position is subject to the signing of a confidentiality agreement.

* Good levels of experience and competence in drawing and performing basic interpretation of P&ID's.

* Ability and experience of being able to work to a dead-lines and to plan tasks around the timescales of others, with excellent time management skills.

* Basic design knowledge and experience of equipment and technologies used commonly within the water treatment industries (eg. Pumps, pipework, valves and tanks)
