Financial Controller and Bookkeeper, 12-15 hours per week, Hereford, salary dependent on experience. Job Ref 2245
This fast-growing business provide a management service to landlords, whilst also providing superior quality accommodation at affordable prices to professional tenants.
The current team of 4 people work out of offices in Hereford and are currently looking to take on a new financial controller / bookkeeper.
To provide the 'bedrock' financial support for the directors of the business and other inter-connected family run companies.
Your responsibilities as the Financial Controller / Bookkeeper (FCB) will be wide and varied allowing huge freedom in your work life due to a positive flexible working attitude; as long as the jobs you are required to do get done. This role allows huge scope to go into many other areas of this business and would also be a very strong foundation if you are looking to learn about property and eventually go into property yourself
Your day to day roles and responsibilities as the FCB for all the companies, will include:
?? Entry of purchase and sales invoices
?? Entry and reconciliation of customer and supplier payments and receipts
?? Reconciling bank accounts and balance sheet
?? Pensions on line submissions
?? Monthly journals and the preparation of monthly reports and year end to trial balance
?? Checking monthly rent receipts
?? Producing monthly landlord statements
?? Preparation and maintenance of weekly and monthly cashflow and KPI reports
?? Support with day to day activity, administration and to support the senior management with the business expansion, development and improvement
2. Additional responsibilities in partnership with Senior Management
?? Annual budgets and forecast management
?? Working closely with the Financial Director to ensure all statutory compliance requirements are met
?? Liaising with external accountants to assist with preparation of statutory annual accounts
?? Attend the monthly team meeting
?? Complete a detailed departmental KPI schedule each week and produce the completed schedule for the weekly meetings
?? To take on any other requests from the Directors, as required for the smooth running and progression of the business
?? To form part of a small fun team, supporting each other and maintaining a good sense of humour at all times.
?? Qualified (or equivalent experience) in bookkeeping, minimum 3 years' experience
?? Good experience and working knowledge of Xero accounts package
?? Team player with a positive attitude
?? Excellent verbal and written skills
?? Great telephone manner
?? Good IT skills (must be a strong excel user)
?? Self-motivated and ability to work on own initiative
?? Great organisation skills
?? Good people skills
?? Punctual, professional and trustworthy acting with high level of discretion at all times
?? An interested in property is helpful but not essential.
Hereford (free parking and 5-minute walk into the city). Flexible, opportunity to work from home regularly.

- Initial estimates 12 -15 hours per week. Additional hours at month and year-end. Open-minded regarding days of week.
- Potential to develop into a full-time role as the business expands, if desired
A generous hourly rate to be agreed with the right candidate, with annual bonuses (discretionary - depending on business performance).
The holiday year runs from 1 April to 31 March. The FCB will be entitled to paid holidays pro-rata as follows:
- 33 Days Holiday including Bank Holidays
- 1 day extra each month - to be taken within that month
- Birthdays off work (not taken as holiday)
- A mileage allowance will be provided with this post any journeys from the office.
- Successful candidates will be supplied with a laptop, if required.
