Reading Support Assistant to work in a Primary School in Telford

• Do you hold an English degree and wish embark on a career working in education?

• Are you a Teaching Assistant with a proven track record of increasing pupils reading age already?

Our client school are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic reading support assistant to target pupils one to one and in small groups whose reading age is below expected levels.

The successful candidate will be required to:

• Collaborate with teachers individually to identify the literacy needs of students, to set learning goals and targets, and to problem solve with teachers to develop best practices for continuous academic growth of students in literacy.

• Assist teachers with the collection of data, analysis of data results and support the sharing of findings with all staff.

• Teach targeted literacy intervention to small groups of students daily using creative and personalised strategies and resources to bridge attainment gaps.

• Maintain and submit accurate and up-to-date management records of all students' progress.

The role is based in a Primary School in the Telford area. A small School that has been graded as Outstanding by OFSTED; this school has a welcoming staff team and behaviour of pupils was described by OFSTED as excellent. The Senior Leadership Team have a focus on accelerating the progress of Literacy across KS1 & KS2 for the next academic year, and have created this role to be able to supplement their support time to drive achievement in Reading.

If you are an experienced Teaching Assistant with a track record in raising pupil attainment in Reading or you are an English Graduate with experience supporting pupils in either a school or private (tuition) setting, then this could be the role for you.
