The Lead Nurse will provide high quality, comprehensive day to day operational, administrative and nursing leadership to the Sexual Health Services Team

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The specific accountabilities of this role will be flexible and will change to meet the needs of the organisation as required but will include (or be equivalent in nature to) those listed below:
  • Responsibility for the overall management of the delivery of Sexual Health and Contraception clinical services both within the clinic and in community settings
  • To be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality Sexual Health and Contraception clinical services within the context of a clinical governance framework
  • To provide professional leadership to all staff within the area, working in close collaboration and co-operation with members of the multi-professional team
  • Represent retrospective service at all meetings
  • To ensure all staff in the community and acute sexual health services are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver a quality service that is efficient, effective and responsive to the changing needs of the local population
  • To support the delivery and achievement of key targets related to contraception and sexual health services e.g. Chlamydia Screening, 48 hour access, KPIs
  • To work in partnership with the clinical lead on specified development projects to improve the patient experience within the clinic

Managerial Responsibilities:
  • Have continuing site management responsibilities including maintenance, cleaning and management of incidents
  • Liaise with the relevant managers at external sites
  • Take responsibility for the day to day active management of the Nursing staff, Health

Advisers, Reception including notes and secretaries (where applicable) and to ensure all staff groups meet definable measurable outcomes
  • Ensure that relevant local and national competencies for all staff groups are actively promoted within the multi-professional team and regularly reviewed against staff performance
  • Manage difficult behaviour and human resource issues sensitively and proactively ensuring consistency, equity of practice and avoidance of ambiguity
  • Take overall responsibility for the service including all sexual health outreach services
  • Be responsible for the activity through Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), CQUIN's, budget statements, workforce reports, audit and other measurement tools and to lead on actions in response to outcomes
