Production Engineer / Materials Controller

Reporting to and supporting the Manufacturing Manager, the position of Production Engineer / Materials Controller is a senior role created with the intention of enhancing the overall effectiveness and responsiveness of the Manufacturing and Production function within the Company- handling all its product and services requirements.

The role will also embrace taking a leading part in purchasing of items not designated as "resale" items, stock control and upkeep, reduction of WIP, and a key role in supporting sales by preparing manufacturing quotation data.

The candidate is required to have a good overall background in Production Engineering and ideally an understanding of the Companys products, they will be responsible for:

?? Receiving and dealing with customer projects

?? Detail drawings from the relevant engineering departments

?? Generation of BOMs and routings for manufactured items

?? Issuance of work packs along with relevant documentation required for manufactured items establishing verbal and written quotations for externally supplied parts

?? Entering purchase order information into the Companys order entry system

?? Providing information on deliveries

?? Progress chasing throughout as necessary

?? Generally supporting the Manufacturing Manager in the promotion of the business

?? Support of the efficient running of the manufacturing department.

In addition to relevant previous experience, this role will require someone with:

?? Highly developed organisation skills

?? Persuasiveness

?? Literacy

?? confidence and tenacity.

IT skills required will include the common Microsoft office modules i.e. Excel, Access and Word plus, ideally the Javelin system and its Crystal reporting programs.

A team player, the successful applicant must be willing and able to liaise at all levels between the Company and its customers regarding all manufacturing related matters.

Specific Duties will include but not necessarily limited to:

?? Receiving and dealing with new projects from the Sales department for supplying quotation data for example routings, operation times and relevant additional tooling costs

?? Receiving and dealing with customer projects and detail drawings from the Engineering departments

?? Creation of parts designated as for manufacture or bought out within the companies Javelin system, maintenance of such parts for obsolescence, re-order / stocking levels along with establishing suitable purchasing or manufacturing batch sizes

?? Generation and maintaining of accurate Bill of Materials, work centres and routings for manufactured items, adapting planned times in line with actuals for accurate scheduling reporting.

?? Daily operation of the companies MRP, scheduling and SFDC systems and dealing with the requirements detailed by the system in a timely manner.

?? Issuing in a timely, accurate and professional manner production or other information in a work pack format for manufacturing as may be required.

?? Assist with the maintenance of the Companys Supplier Database & Approved supplier quality links.

?? Develop key Supplier accounts as directed.

?? Place purchase orders and progress the same in relation to designated product lines. All on a timely basis.

?? Progress purchase orders and answer supplier queries in relation thereto.

?? Maintaining effective and regular filing of Production Control paperwork and filing of such items in line with the engineering department protocols.

?? Co-ordinate and control all manufacturing aspects of Customer Service Returns (R+ Repairs), including liaison with assembly Engineering and sales in respect of Bill of Materials and part prices to be quoted.

?? Supporting manufacturing with consumable tooling requirements

?? Using the SolidWorks seat currently available, print required drawings for issue to manufacture as required.

?? Take direct control of the stock control operations of Stores, establishing control systems and ensuring effective and accurate recording of all stock movements in and out of the Stores environment for non-resale parts related activities.

?? Reporting to the Managing Manager as part of displayed KPIs - supplying reports for end of month management reports, scrap reporting & organising periodic Supplier Surveys and Supplier vetting and monitoring.
