Manufacturing Technician:

Willcox Matthews are currently representing one of our clients in their search for a Manufacturing Technician, who can assist in the planning, design and setting up of specialist processes.

The Role & Responsibilities:

* Monitor and analyse current manufacturing methods to identify improvements under Safety, Delivery, Quality and Cost (SDQC) metrics.

* Implement improvements and monitor to ensure SQDC have reduced.

* Prepare for new process introduction including design and procurement of jigs, tooling and where necessary capital equipment.

* Engage in creative problem solving to address operational issues.

* Participate in factory layout changes to facilitate capacity increase or operational improvement.

* The go-to person for technical problems/ fault finding, giving advice and guidance.

* Reporting on activities to the process manager.

* Continually seek to improve work processes and individual performance.

* Assist internal and external maintenance.

* Support training department and process managers to create and maintain work instructions and other training material as needed to support training efforts.

* Work off shift to ensure continuity amongst the team when implementing new processes and procedures.

* Provide input to the department leaders for employee reviews and training.

* Adhere to all quality and safety standards and take immediate action to correct safety issues

* Maintain clean and organised work area with emphasis on safety, quality, efficiency and utilisation.

* Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Skills / Knowledge / Experience:

* Strong problem-solving skills.

* Knowledge of CNC machining is essential.

* Independent, dependable, resourceful and self-motivated.

* Excellent communication skills- verbal and written.

* Strong attention to detail.

* Computer literate- Microsoft Packages such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

* Good organisational skills.

* Proven mechanical aptitude.

* Experience with measurement instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gages).

* Experience with Machinery used in a metalworking shop (Vertical Mills, Lathes, Drills, Grinders, etc.)

You will have the initiative to approach challenges with enthusiasm and the ability to react to rapid changes in prioritisation whilst maintaining a clear focus on the company objectives. High attention to detail, problem solving and communication skills are a must as is having a proven mechanical aptitude
