Due to our continued growth we are now recruiting for an Advanced Manufacturing BIW Process Engineer for either our Warwick office or for our Customer's Gaydon site.

Our Engineering Research and Development department (ER&D) is a fast growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on exciting projects globally for multiple customers. It comprises highly specialized engineers across Automotive, Aerospace and Industrial Heavy Machinery.

Scope of Work

The Advanced Manufacturing Engineering team support the design, feasibility and optimisation of the body-in-white (BiW) manufacturing process, tooling and facility from concept through to delivery. The Process Design team within AME have developed a standard Bill of Process (BoP) to allow a common manufacturing strategy. This drives new Standard Manufacturing Cells, which will form the basis of the BIW manufacturing facilities adhering to a common BoP across the platform.

Requirements of the role:
  • Product & Process Compatibility - Manufacturing feasibility assessments, aligned to engineering gateway releases, plus running change proposals. Target zero compatibility issues at FDJ - status to be fed into BIW Process Chain and Manufacturing Gateway Reviews. Delivery of the Virtual Build buyoff events
  • Product & Process Change Evaluation - Cost and feasibility studies in support of engineering change proposals
  • Simultaneous Engineering
  • PACN, AIMS 2, Snags and MRE responses - update any PACN responses and ensure that all costs are covered by an internal MRE for costing purposes; ensure that all AIMS/Snags are up to date and created where applicable.
  • Virtual Buy-Off - Validate Vendor process and simulations for adherence to BIW standards and deliverables and ensure robust, feasible and value for money engineering solutions are validated through the virtual series phase
  • Confirmation of BoP - Maintain BoP throughout the design SE period. Maintain close adherence and ensure that any changes to one of the models carries across to the other planned models.
  • Processing - Experience processing cyclograms is required. This is part of the iterative process improvements required throughout the lifecycle of the project.
  • Layouts - It is preferable but not necessity that the engineer have experience using the Microsoft Visio software, other layout experience is sufficient.
  • IT literacy - Microsoft office suite proficiency is a necessity.
  • Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis - It is important that engineers have competent experience with the PFMEA process and can operate as part of a cross functional team during this process.
  • Global Study Process Allocation System - GSPAS experience will be looked upon favourably and will be important to the role although not essential.
  • Process Designer - Engineers are required to be sufficient in the use of process designer as this will be a key part of their deliverables on this project.
  • 3D viewing - suitable experience using CAD viewing tools such as Digibuck is required. Digibuck will be the available method of viewing the latest design intent as well as each data freeze throughout assessment and interrogation of data.
  • Travel - Inter site travel may be required. Therefore, transport and flexibility are required.

Knowledge / Experience

•Qualified to HNC &/or Degree level in engineering (NVQ Level 4 or equivalent).

•Proven ability and expertise in assembly processes.

•Several years' experience of low & high volume manufacturing processes preferably from within the automotive industry.

•Sound knowledge of Digital Manufacturing tools used in BIW.

•Proven project management capability.

•Working knowledge of process control techniques.

•Application of Industrial Engineering techniques (method & work study).

•Working knowledge of lean production principles.

•Expertise Automotive BIW Manufacturing Engineering.

•Expertise Automotive BIW processes.

•Expertise in SE (Simultaneous studies) for BIW.

•Expertise in industrialization of BIW shop.

•Project Management.
