Job Title: New Product Formulation Technologist ( Sports Category)

Holland & Barrett have a great opportunity to join our Buying Team at Holland & Barrett International, based in our Store Support Centre in Nuneaton, nr Coventry (CV10 7RH).

As a Product Development Technologist working on the Sports Nutrition Category, the purpose of your role will be to source and develop own-label products ranges which satisfy our customers, and drive sales growth.

The successful candidate will be highly driven and tenacious, with a background in food science or development. With an eye for spotting new trends, and highly skilled at managing projects through from conception to launch, you'll work with cross-functional teams to deliver new ranges, and continuously improve existing ones, that our customers will love.

The Role

  • Work with the existing supplier base - and source new suppliers - to drive category growth and profitability
  • Define and manage multiple critical paths, ensuring we launch new products in line with the agreed timescales
  • Work with the Digital and Marketing teams to maximise the success of new product development through customer focussed communication, and internal training
  • Work closely with the Supply Chain team and the warehouse to ensure all stock is in the right place at the right time taking account of lead times and supplier requirements
  • Ensure that all administration relating to the development process are accurately maintained and all new product launches are delivered on time and in full
  • Provide information and analysis to assess slow moving & dormant products and work with the category team to re-invent and re-develop product to drive category growth
  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of the customer and supply base
  • Reviewing product specifications and requirements; appraising new product ideas and/or product or packaging changes
  • Assesses market competition by comparing the company's product to competitors' products, and provide recommendations
  • Brings new products to market by analysing proposed product requirements and product development programs; preparing return-on-investment analyses; establishing time schedules with manufacturing
  • Introduces and markets new products by developing time-integrated plans with sales, advertising, and production
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications
