Our client is a development and commercialisation organisation (DCO), specialising in materials technologies and processes. Their application of cross-industry insight, materials science expertise and innovative thinking allows industries, such as Construction, Healthcare, Ceramics, Aerospace and Nuclear, to develop and implement disruptive technology platforms, providing cost and/or product performance benefits and enabling real market differentiation.
Their Structures Testing Laboratory is recognised across the UK as a leading facility providing support for new product development and accreditation to the Construction Industry.
Due to a high volume of work they are seeking at least two additional Technicians to work with them on a temporary basis over the summer period.
You will require a background in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering (or similar) and this role would provide ideal paid work experience for someone who is currently studying for a degree in one of these subjects.
You will be keen to learn quickly and be comfortable with following methods and processes in a safe and accurate manner. In return you will be professionally supervised and trained, and will have the opportunity to work on a number of different activities and projects, including:
- Working in the Structures Laboratory setting up routine tests
- Preparing samples for analysis
- Testing structural components both full scale and individual components
- Producing reports
- Some site work may be required assisting the team in structural investigations
The roles are active so will suit those who are dextrous; are able to operate machinery and equipment; and can regularly perform manual handling activities.
